Our staff has diverse backgrounds, ranging from Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists to Home Support and Personal Support Workers. All of our care is Nurse Case Managed to ensure that our care is always relevant to our client’s needs.

Specialty Care

Alzheimer’s and Dementia - We know that caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s or Dementia can be a real challenge and extremely difficult for family caregivers. Many of our staff are specially trained with Gentle Persuasive Approaches and U-First, ensuring that they can deal with challenging, responsive behaviours by using tried and tested techniques. We understand that each case is unique. Our care is always tailored personally to the individual needs of each client.
Stroke - The Memories+ Home Healthcare team understands that a stroke can significantly impact reducing the quality of life and often considerably alters a person’s ability to participate in typical daily life activities. If your loved one has suffered a stroke, there may be a recovery period where help from an experienced caregiver may be required.
Parkinson’s - The Memories+ Home Healthcare team is experienced in Parkinson’s disease and will work closely with your medical team to ensure that all of your loved one’s needs are met throughout their entire journey. Caring for a loved one with Parkinson’s disease can be challenging, especially as the disease progresses. With the help of a qualified caregiver, families can find a level of calm by knowing that their loved one is in good hands, even in the most advanced stages of the disease.
Palliative Care - The Memories+ Home Healthcare team will work with your loved one’s medical team and develop a personalized plan to ensure that all specific needs are met and that your loved one is entirely comfortable. And when you need support, we are there to provide caregiver respite as required.

Our Story at Memories Plus

Memories+ founder Harvey Dix takes caring for elders very personally. After a senior family member had a debilitating stroke several years ago, he saw firsthand how difficult it could be for families in this type of situation to care for a loved one. Harvey had a very successful (and demanding) career at the time and realized that caring for a loved one while balancing a career and raising a young family was next to impossible. Through living this experience, it became apparent that this was not uncommon in today’s society. He realized that he was part of the “sandwich generation.”

Harvey wanted to make a difference and took a leap of faith by leaving his career and starting a business in Home health care.

Operating a home healthcare business was a great vehicle to serve the community with the highest standards of care and allow seniors to remain in the home they love no matter their challenges, but Harvey realized that there was more to it than that. People need to stay active both physically and mentally. And being a social butterfly himself, he realized the importance of social engagement.

In 2018, after almost eight years of building a solid reputation as a premium healthcare service provider in the York / South Simcoe region, Harvey and his dedicated team created Memories+ Adult Program and Wellness Centre.

The Memories+ program Centre allows family members options and gives caregivers well-deserved respite and peace of mind that their loved ones are cared for in a Fun and interactive supervised environment.

By offering both In-Home Healthcare services and an Adult Day Program, we can offer our clients the broadest range of services to complete their total care needs.
